Vulcan Sim Racing Weekly – Edition #6: Season 4 Plans
Welcome to VSR Weekly, the blog that follows the week to week action in Vulcan Sim Racing! No blog last week, meaning it’s two weeks for the price of one this time.
Last week, Vulcan made their long-awaited debut in the CXR Racing league, with Callam Brant, Luke McKeown and Dom Forster taking to the track at Laguna Seca. With a field of around 40 cars at such a demanding track, it was all a question of surviving the race. With all three drivers coming to grief early on, either spinning or involved in incidents, it all became about securing a good recovery drive, with Callam coming P18, Luke in P17 and Dom in P22. However, this week, fortunes changed as Luke drove a stunning race and claimed P1 at Road Atlanta, Callam and Dom also improving on their round 1 results, coming P11 and P15 respectively. Also this week, Mo Janko raced around Motegi in WGTC, coming P15 in race 1 and P21 in race 3, after connection issues left him out of race 2.
In endurance racing news, Vulcan are preparing for Petit Le Mans, taking place next weekend at Road Atlanta. Three teams will be fielded for this event. Lucas Adam, Mo Janko and Antonio Baptista Fernandes are set to run the Dallara P217 LMP2; Tom Male, Daniel Kovacs and stand-in driver Jason Hodgson running the BMW M8 GTE, and Luke McKeown, Steven Leahy and Dom Forster running the Audi R8 GT3. Preparation is well underway, and all teams will be striving for a P1 in class, no doubt.
And finally, we welcome back Vulcan’s very own Paul King in his return to iRacing! Paul, who last drove as a part of a two man team in the 24hrs of Le Mans driving for 18 hours to finish P7 is back and better than ever, jumping straight into CXR in the Ferrari 488 GT3. All of us at Vulcan welcome him back to the team!
