Vulcan Sim Racing Weekly – Edition #1: New Beginnings

Hello and welcome to edition 1 of Vulcan Sim Racing Weekly! My name is Tom Male, Vulcan Sim Racing driver and social manager, and I’ll be taking you on a tour of all the ins and outs of Vulcan Sim Racing every week. I hope you enjoy edition 1 of this weekly blog, any suggestions of what you would like to see next week, leave them in the comments. On with the show!

Last week, we had two new drivers join the team, Davide Fashole and Daniel Kovacs, former members of the Vulcan Sim Racing Academy who thoroughly impressed in the 6 hours of Road America, one of the reasons for their promotion to the race team. Based on their promising previous results and their awesome performance on Sunday, they should have a promising future within the team.

As mentioned previously, we competed in the 6 hours of Road America in second split on Sunday afternoon, with VSR finishing P4 and VSR Black P3. It was an intense race to say the least and both teams performed perfectly to bag a great result.

In league racing last week, Mo Janko raced in the highly competitive WGTC series at Road Atlanta, coming up short in race 1 after being run off course. However, he was on for a brilliant result in race 2, but was spun in an ambitious move from behind, a P1 result in the pro-am class being cruelly snatched away. He ended the week P2 in pro-am class. Dominik Forster and Steve Norman also competed in the SRW Evo championship at Mosport, with Dom finishing P7 in Silver class. Steve, however, was killed by a rejoining backmarker who dangerously rejoined into him. P1 in bronze class slipped away at that second, but anything can happen still. Dom also raced in the CXR championship at Barcelona, commanding a storming drive from P18 to finish P9. Finally, Vulcan owner Steve Leahy popped his league racing cherry, competing in round 1 of the ARL GT championship, accompanied by Luke McKeown. It was a race that saw a P19 and P8 result in race 1 for the drivers respectively, but with both falling victim to the narrow nature of Road America in race 2, crashing out of points contention in one of many fierce battles which ensued each lap.

Finally, in other topics away from the iRacing limelight, Fall Guys fever has gripped half of the paddock, some of whom (Luke McKeown) were spotted playing late into the night and into the early hours of the morning. The other half of the paddock hope this is a temporary addiction that can soon be overcome, but only time will tell!

I hope you enjoyed this edition of Vulcan Sim Racing Weekly and any suggestions, leave them below. From all of us at Vulcan Sim Racing, have a good week and stay safe!
